Magnetic therapy for depression. Computer screen showing the position of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) being used to treat severe depression

Magnetic therapy for depression. Computer screen showing the position of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) being used to treat severe depression. TMS uses localised pulses of magnetic energy to stimulate increased activity in the left frontal lobe, the area of the brain associated with mood disorders. The location of the pulse is controlled on screen using a camera connected to the computer. Photographed at the Henri Mondor hospital, Creteil, Paris, France.
