Women and children at Oakdale, Oaks Crescent, Wolverhampton , late 19th century. This was possibly the home of John and Ellen Marston who lived at the Oaks in Merridale Road "a beautiful Victorian house with a large garden, which in those days was on the outskirts of the town". John Marston (1836-1918) was a successful Victorian bicycle, motorcycle and car manufacturer who founded the Sunbeam company of Wolverhampton and whose products were renowned for their high quaity. They had 10 children between 1866 and 1886.
