It is found in the southern constellation of Pavo and has a visual magnitude of With an angular diameter of about 10 minutes of arc, NGC 6744 is one of the largest barred spiral galaxies seen in the sky. The image has been overexposed in order to reveal the structure of the faint spiral arms. This has made unclear the view of the central bar.
