A United States Navy Arleigh Burke-class Flight IIA guided missile destroyer is commissioned as the USS Frank E. Peterson Jr. (DDG 121) at the Port of Charleston, South Carolina, May 14, 2022. The ship was named after the Marine Corps’ first African American general and aviator. The ship is the 71st of its class and will be based out of Hawaii, serving in the Pacific Fleet.
