But Walter Clark, Sea Grant's coast- al law specialist, says your land may still be worth something. In its 1983 session, the North Carolina General Assembly passed a law that allows a tax credit for land do- nated to the state, a local government or to a conservation organization. Clark says you'll be giving yourself a tax credit and providing the public with access to natural resources. Clark says the land must be in North Carolina and must be useful for public beach use, public access to public waters or trails, fish and wildlife conservation or similar land- conservation purposes.
