The weather during the week pre- vious to Easter was wet and cold until Friday, and this put a damper on the plant market. With bright weather on the two days preceding Easter, there was a heavy run on cut flowers, which were not in large enough supply to meet the demand, being held back by sunless weather. The general report is that, while more sales were recorded than last year, the demand was for lower priced stock, particularly among the retailers catering to the medium- class trade, as many of the large in- dustries are running on short time. Various Notes. A. C. Strom, of New Britain, reports a satisfactory increase in business dur- ing the last winter. He did a good Easter business. Francis Bros., of Southington, have opened a retail store. The F. B. Fountain Co., of Middle- town, rented the adjoining store dur- ing the Easter season and reports a good business. A. N. Pierson, Inc., of Cromwell, now has two light and two heavy de- livery trucks and one of the latter is provided with a covered top which is handsomely decorated an
