The original stock of this new plant, seed of which is here offered for the first time, was imported from Japan, and is a giant in form. Grows erectly one and one-half to two feet, covered with beautiful foliage, which shows off its handsome seed-pods to great perfection. The latter, which is the striking feature of this plant, are almost globular, over two inches in diameter, of a striking orange-red tint, and enclose a cherry-like fruit of the same color, which is edible and especially recommended as a preserve.
