We are indebted to Mr. Alfredo Casella, the celebrated composerand pianist, for the following information. The Waltz was sketched by Ravel during the war and completedin 1920. The themes employed are of the Viennese nature. TheWaltz was composed with the thought of a dance-production, butRavel had no exact idea of a choregraphic production. In November,1920, Ravel and Mr. Casella played an arrangement for two piano-fortes at a concert of the Schoenberg-Musikverein in Vienna. The poem is a sort of triptych:—.
