His two older broth-ers obtained permission to go fishing after having planted a certain patch ofcorn, and to assist them in getting done earlier young Amos dropped cornfor them. He complained of pain in the abdomen, but worked alongbravely until about ten oclock, when the pain moved into his left leg, andhe was obliged to lie down. The pain became so severe that his brothershad to carry him to the house. He was put to bed, and did not rise from -liiiiiv.
