Flesh bright deep red, very sweet and of fine texture; seed small, Striped Klondike, an early variety with exceptionally deep red heart Striped Klondike 25 to 35 80 An early garden and shipping variety similar to regular Klondike but with irregular dark green stripes. Fruits oblong, of medium size, rind medium hard. Flesh deepest red known to watermelon; sweet and crisp; seed small, varying in color from white to black. Not quite equal in quality to the original Klondike. Long Light Icing or Grey Monarch 25 85 A mid-season, very productive variety, well adapted for home markets. Fruits large, cylindrical, with blunt ends; light grey-green, faintly mottled with darker green. On account of a thin, tender rind, it is not a good shipper. Flesh red; seed white. Northern Sweet 15 75 A very early variety particularly adapted to shorter season areas for local markets. Fruits small, nearly round, me- dium green with dark green stripes; rind very thin. Flesh very deep red, crisp, sweet, and of good flavor; seed large, white. Peerless 20 to 25 85 Very similar to Ice Cream. An early sort, well adapted for home gardens in the North, but not a good shipper. Fruits short, oblong, medium green, with fine veining; rind thin, tender. Flesh bright red, very sweet; seed white.
