Dorsal 23-25, originatingabove 5th to 8th ray of anal, its length about 2 J times in its distance fromhead. Anal 28-32, a little nearer base of caudal than base of obtusely pointed, shorter than head, reaching base of ventral ora little beyond. Caudal scaled in basal half, with obtusely pointed peduncle 2 to 3 times as long as deep, nearly as long as scales in lateral line, \^ in transverse series on body, g;;J| intransverse series between dorsal and anal, 14 or 16 (rarely 12) roundcaudal peduncle. Silvery, sometimes with black blotches. Total length 250 millim. Reaches a length of 320 mil
