UTERINE FIBROMA, DRAWING

Subserous uterine fibroma of the uterus body. The uterine fibroma is a benign tumor developped from the uterus muscle (myometrium). It is a proliferation of muscule fibers, more or less located, responsible for an augmentation of volume, or a deformation of the uterus. The locations of fibromas are very varied, affecting the cervix, the isthme or the cervix uteri. They can be located at different levels of the myometrium : interstitial fibroma (intramural, inside the myometrium), submucous (endocavitary, ejecting in the uterine cavity) or subserous (ejecting in the abdominal cavity). This illustration is part of a series concerning the menstrual cycle and the gynecological pathologies.
