Ruby Queen,and Annie Dine, all introfluced last spring, re-semble it closely in every respect, and the threeare either identical, or from the same origin. Itis by no means a Tree Tomato, and no moreupright in growth, naturally, than any of ourordinary sorts; but it is by all odds the thriftiestgrower we have yet seen, and if grown in veryrich soil, trimmed to single stalks and tied to an. It not only gives fruit oflargest size, but also in greatest varieties, indeed, will be found to evenapproach it in productiveness. The cross section(fig. 6) shows the seed cavities to be very small,and indeed we think no other varieties have yetequalled this in solidity. The green fruit usuallyhas dark stripes radiating from the apex like thespokes of a wheel, which, by the way, is also acharacteristic of Table Queen. Many of thespecimens are quite smooth and regular, butfurther improvement in this respect may beneeded. The color, a kind of purple, is not ofthe best.
