Stalk, a quarter of an inch long, just extending beyond the base. Flesh, white with a yellowish tinge, firm, crisp, very juicy and sugary, with a rich vinous flavor. This is one of the richest flavored early dessert apples, and unequalled by any other variety of the same season ; it is ripe in the end of August, and beginning of September. This is the original, and true King of the Pippins, and a very different apple from that generally known by the same name. See Golden Winter Pearmain.
