This section of the National Cycle Network links Addenbrooke's Hospital (in the distant background) with the town of Great Shelford. It marks the 10,000th mile of the National Cycle Network, and was opened by Sir John Sulston in September 2005 The artwork on this route by Katy Hallett celebrates the role of the nearby Sanger Institute in decoding the vital human gene BRCA2.
