Cpl J. P. Mason acts as the point of a patrol during combat in Vietnam on February 8, 1967. He tactically scans a tree line and tall grass before allowing the patrol to pass through the area. The photograph is taken by Cpl. Ferreira and is part of the Defense Department's collection of American military activities during the Vietnam War.
