Farleys House, near the East Sussex village of Chiddingly, was once the home of artists and photographers Roland Penrose and Lee Miller. They moved there in 1949 and stayed there for 35 years. During that time they built a collection of contemporary art, much of which can be seen by visitors to the house. Many of the works were made by their friends and visitors. Many famous artists visited Farleys - Picasso, Max Ernst, Joan Miro. Today the house is surrounded by a sculpture garden. Today it is a base for the Lee Miller archive and the Penrose collection. The house itself houses many works of modern art and Surrealism, the sign post on the way into the house describes Farleys as"The home of the Surrealists".
