Moraine Lake is a crystal clear blue-green lake, near its more famous sister Lake Louise, in the valley of the ten peaks which includes the third highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies. It featues on the back of Canada’s old $20 bills first issued in 1969. This view is taken from the side of the rockpile at the shoreline of the lake. The Wenkchemna peaks, which include Mount Temple the third highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies at 3,540 metres (11,500 feet). The area offers a wide variety of recreational options in the summer months including trails to a range of destinations, including the Consolation Lakes, Larch Valley, Sentinel Pass and Eiffel Lake. The crystal blue-green waters get their colour from mineral particles washed into the lake which reflect the sunlight
