Owned by Anna Dean Farm, Akron, Ohio. abruptly out of the ocean to a height of nearly 300 feet and slopes away northward for a distance of ten miles. The system of agriculture here must be adapted to the comparatively cooler soil of the north slope, where grass and vegetation tend to grow less rapidly but to larger size and greater succulence. It is possible that this has had something to do with the larger size of the 8000 cattle kept on the island (Fig. 22).
