061114-N-1960H-071 Pacific Ocean (Nov. 14, 2006) - Aircraft assigned to Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5) fly over a group of 18 and Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force ships, at the conclusion the two nations' exercise ANNUALEX. The exercise is designed to improve both forces' capabilities in the defense of Japan. Approximately 8,500 Sailors are taking part aboard 13 ships, submarines and various shore-based aircraft.
