Nowhere in the Union, I feel sure, can the equal,or similitude of the Bar Harbor heights be found, in combined archi-tectural and natural picturesqueness. Nor is this an ephemeral thing,for every year adds many names to the catalogue of rich and cultivatedmen who are buyiug land and building houses here which they mean tooccupy permanently. These facts and many others as to the remarkable growth herewere given to us by a gentleman who was one of the earliest to appre-ciate the excellence of the spot, and one who has not only profitedmost largely by his early investments, but has wisely guided thehurried improvements
