Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, 347 483 (1954), was a landmark United States Supreme Court case in which the Court declared state laws establishing segregated public schools for black and white students to be unconstitutional. - The Civil Rights Memorial is a memorial in Montgomery, Alabama to people who died in the struggle for the equal and integrated treatment of all people, regardless of race, during the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. The Memorial honors the achievements and memory of those who died during the Civil Rights Movement, a period framed by the momentous Brown v. Board decision in 1954 and the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King in 1968. Designer: Maya Lin (completed 1989).
