The columns are diminishedin the classic fashion, and carry round arches of threeorders in the earlier walks, the middle order in the laterarcades being replaced by a singular band of ornamentlike an exaggerated bead and reel. The voussoirs areof black basalt and white stone alternately, and thespandrils are filled with a rough mosaic of basalt and redbrick in various patterns.
