'No Trespassing' 'Antwerp flu,' reads a barricaded door in Doel, Belgium, a village doomed by port development.
Doel is a doomed village near Antwerp, Belgium. It is located on the shore of the river the Scheldt in between a nuclear reactor and the burgeoning port of Antwerp. Many people have had to sell their homes to the port development corporation while others are holding out. Many houses have already been demolished. Artists and demonstrators have campaigned to save the village and its historical buildings, but the government threatens to remove the last villagers.
