Invasion of Normandy, 1944. US Navy Second Beach Battalion personnel disassembling a German Beetle remote-controlled miniature explosive tank, on Utah Beach, during the Normandy Invasion. These vehicles were built as mobile anti-landing craft mines. The D-Day landings of 6 June 1944 were the largest seaborne invasion in history. They successfully liberated the Normandy coast of Nazi-occupied France, contributing to the Allied victory in World War II. Photographed on 11 June 1944.
