Its dorsal end is wide and is divitled into two parts by a deep notch into which the base of the ear is received. The ventral end is small and overlaps the mandibular gland. The parotid duct leaves the gland at the lower part of the anterior border, crosses the masseter muscle, and opens into the mouth opposite the third upper cheek Please note that these images are extracted from scanned page images that may have been digitally enhanced for readability - coloration and appearance of these illustrations may not perfectly resemble the original Sisson, Septimus, 1865-1924.
