Class A4 British Railways No. 60006 (formally known as the Herring Gull) Sir Ralph Wedgwood at Lincoln Central in 1961


Originally named the Herring Gull A4 No. 4466 and later renumbered as British Railways No. 60006, was also known as the Sir Ralph Wedgewood. The train had special nameplates made up in 1944 after the original train was destroyed during the Baedeker Raids in York during 1942. This image was taken at Lincoln Station in 1961 Four years later No. 60006 was withdrawn from service on 3 September 1965 Please note that due to the age of the image their might be imperfections showing.
