Remoras attached to a blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus). Remoras (family Echeneidae) are fish that use a sucker-like attachment to cling to a host animal, usually for transport reasons and to feed on the host's leftover food and detritus. The blue whale is the world's largest animal and can reach lengths of 27 metres and weigh 120 tonnes. It feeds on small crustaceans, such as krill. Photographed in the Gulf of California.
