I have been tempted, many times, to publish some letter written by an admirer of Advanckd Bee Culture:, and this time the temptation is too great. W. Z. Hutchinson, Longmont, Colo., Jan. 28. 1907. Flint, Mich. My Dear Friend :— To-day 1 was standing at the bench in the shop, making supers, when my little son brought from the ofifice your Advanced Bee Culture. My first thought was "you little ; 1 didn't even stop to sit down, until 1 had read the Introduction and Conclusion, when 1 said to the boy : "There is enough inspiration for any one to become a successful ; 1 like the book; like all of you writings, it is full enough of virile force to impress one with its truth and importance, yet, without any selfish egotism. It shows, too, a studied and traveled knowledge not found in the writings of most bee journal correspondents. 1 have been reading it this afternoon, and saw many essential points there that you brought out in that little old Banner Apiary 25 years ago. 1 notice, too, that in gathering knowledge in our chosen pursuit, you have saved the "kernels only," having thrown away the chaff. We will, perhaps, never see alike, on the question of loose, hang- ing frames, but that's perhaps, because we have not, or else cannot, see from each other's view point. Just got home from Calif., and wife and 1 are putting up 100,000 sections and we have bees enough to fill them, with a good season. We secured 60,000 lbs. of comb honey from colonies, in poor condition last spring, and followed by what we call here a poor season. Didn't 1 do quite well ? Yours always. M. A. Gill. Advanced Bee Culture is a book of 230 pages, the size of the Review, profusely illustrated, beautifully printed, and substantially bound. The price is $; or the Review one year and the book for only $
