Original early 1900's comic saucy seaside cartoon postcard of a large man using a mixed bathing machine looking happy about it. Protecting women's modesty whilst bathing had become less important by the time this card was published in 1910, after bathing areas became unsegregated in 1901. Retro beach postcard.
The Kismet series, London no. 106, printed in Holland. Another Kismet series postcard, no. 105, has been seen that was posted in 1910, dating this postcard to around this Mixed bathing was still new in 1910 . For example after a town council meeting on 24th May 1910, it was permitted in Southsea. Legal segregation of bathing areas in Britain only ended in mixed-sex bathing became socially acceptable, the days of the bathing machine were numbered and few were around by the 1920's.
