JUNEAU, ALASKA: Guide Corey Denton rappels down the glacier. A CURIOUS photographer could not resist scaling a 50-foot deep ice crevasse simply because it lay within the city limits of his hometown. Taking an ice axe in hand local resident Kent Mearig (33) drove, kayaked and trekked just ten miles from his home in Alaska’s capital Juneau, so he could enjoy the simple thrill of exploring one of nature’s most spectacular phenomena. Kent visited the most accessible local glacier with experienced local guides Corey Denton and Dawn Riley. COPYRIGHT: KENT MEARIG / MEDIA DRUM WORLD
