Monument to Sir Thomas Hare in the Hare Chapel at Stow Bardolph shows him in Roman armour - only example of this short-lived fashion in Norfolk.
An inscription beneath the statue reads: 'Here lieth the Body / of Sr. THOMAS HARE Baronet / who departed this life the 1st of January 1693/4 / In the 36th Year of his Age. / Here alfo is Interr'd DAME ELIZABETH his Wife / who Erected this Monument to his Memory / And died the 25th of January 1749/50 In the 89th year of her Age. // The CHRISTIAN VIRTUES that adorn'd them / Were too many to be Enumerated here / And are recorded in a better place.'
