Mandela's Gold is a rare yellow form of the well-known crane flower, Strelitzia reginae. In 1996 South Africa's National Botanical Institute was granted permission to re-name it in honour of Nelson Mandela. This spectacular cultivar has flaring, yellow sepals and blue petals reminiscent of a crested tropical bird and can be seen growing in Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden in Cape Town, South Africa.
