Man, wearing a straw hat, standing on the front of a sampan houseboat, in the waters of Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter, Hong Kong

The Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter is home to a mixed bag of luxury cruisers, belonging to members of the Hong Kong Yacht Club, and rickety wooden junks and sampans, belonging to a sizeable community of tankas or boatpeople, with homely touches such as flowerboxes. Sampan owners, keen for business, charge tourists around HK$ 100 for a harbour tour, which may extend into the adjoining waters of Victoria Harbour to the left of the view. Hong Kong's famous 'Noon Day Gun' is located on the harbourside to the right of the sampan.
