Cœnotaphiorum (18), 1563, Etching; first state of four, sheet: 6 9/16 x 8 1/4 in. ( x cm), Hans Vredeman de Vries (Netherlandish, Leeuwarden 1527–1606 (?) Antwerp (?)), Engraved by Johannes van Doetecum the elder (Netherlandish, active 1554–ca. 1600, died 1605), Engraved by Lucas van Doetecum (Netherlandish, active 1554–72, died before 1589), Freestanding tomb characterized by telamons with the heads of bearded men. On top of the tomb the effigy of a deceased, naked man is visible. By his feet, a blank panel in a strapwork frame is placed. Below the image a Latin inscription is added, consisting of four lines divided over two columns
