This painting, titled Diana of the Uplands, was done by British painter Charles Wellington Furse (1868-1904). Furse was related to the painted Joshua Reynolds. Furse's father became Archdeacon of Westminster. Furse was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy. Diana of the Uplands shows the artist's wife (a daughter of John Addington Symonds) on a windswept common. Two greyhounds strain at the leash that she hold sin her head, while with the other hand she grasps her hat in protection against the fresh breeze. It is an open-air study, full of space and sky and instinct with vitality.
