Halogene bulbs. Freshly-produced halogene light bulbs for vehicle headlights. The bulbs contain halogen gases which slow the loss of their metal filament and so extend their life. They are also coated in a thin layer of alloy. As well as lowering the amount of harmful ultraviolet radiation the bulbs produce, the alloy increases their efficiency by reducing the amount of heat they lose as infrared radiation.
