The Mockingbird is a rare but regular summer visitor to RhodeIsland, Connecticut, and southern Massachusetts, and exampleshave been taken in Maine. Mr. Mcllwraith reports that a pairspent the summer of 1883 near Hamilton. Ontario, and C. records in the O. & O. the capture of one near Truro,N. S. The species is chiefly restricted to the Southern BROWN THRASHER. BROWN RUFUS. Char. Above, bright reddish brown or rufous ; beneath, white, tingedwith rufous or buff; breast and side spotted with brown; bill about aslong as the head. Length loVz to 12 inches. A^est.
