It is found on the sea- coast and by the borders of lakes, and is sometimes seen in the interior of the countries it firteiinj^nts. Like most species of the genus, it is migrator}' in the i-pring and autumn, and at such times proceeds in :i'.\'.i the coast or on the borders of large rivers. The food of bird is usually small insects and worms, as well the 'â :erlia£:e of some of the sea-weeds {Fnci). So wide are the iievjous wanderings of this cos- mopolite pigmy that Temrniaiack obtained a specimen from 'li i i :;iâ.
