He was graduated fromHarvard in 1775; was a lawyer; a member of the Conventionon adopting the Constitution of the United States; repre-sentative in General Court; speakers assistant; judge andlieutenant-governor. The portrait was painted by ChesterHarding and remained at Brush Hill, near Milton, Massa-chusetts, in the home of James M. Robbins (his son) until1885, when it was allotted to Mr. E. H. R. Lyman, in thedistribution of Mr. Robbins effects. This portrait is still inthe possession of a canvas: H. 30 inches; W. 25 inches. Lent by Mr. Frank Lyman. 32.
