Syria. The ruins of the Roman city of Palmyra in monochrome, built around 200-250AD projected great magnitude and prosperity of the ancient world under Roman rule. The city was overlooked by the vast fortress of Queen Zenobia, who's mental state was constantly challenged by the authority of the all powerful Rome, leading to the creation of the word Zenophobic and Zenophobia
Colourful Syria as it was in 1998, prior to the destruction of many historial sites during the civil war and the occupation by the Caliphate Army of ISIS. The images are of the Roman city of Palmyra from around 250AD including the fortress of Queen Zenobia that overlooked the city. Always aware of Romes great strength she was paranoid of losing her power as Queen hence the word Zenophobic, Zenofobia, came into use. Sadly much of Palmyra was destroyed when ISIS occupied the site and destructively blew-up many of the columns and arches.
