In the spring of 1884 hesold out his interests in Oregon and came to Sno-homish county, purchasing 160 acres of land a halfmile south of Lowell and at the same time pre-empting forty acres more. Here he lived until1890, when he bought his present place. A littlelater Mr. Stecher rented a farm on Snohomishmarsh and farmed there for two years. The nexttwo years found him operating land leased from hisbrother, Frank, and at the close of that term heremoved to his present place, where he has fifty-two acres of land under cultivation. She received her education in theschools of the old country, but came to Snohomishcounty in 1SS4. To this union have been born sixchildren, all natives of Snohomish county: Frank,John (deceased), Agnes, Annie, (Hto and politics Mr. Stecher is a Republican and thefamily belongs to the Catholic church. Mr. Stecheris in well-to-do circumstances, owning fifty-sevenacres of land, well stocked, chiefly with cattle. Heis one of the industrious men of the county, and en-joys an enviable reputation both as a citizen and asan agriculturalist. He has discharged tlie duties ofthe office of road overseer in his district, but asidefrom that has aspired to or held no political office. EUGENE D.
