The ruins of Lindisfarne Priory on Holy Island in Northumberland, Britain. The small tidal island is only accessible from the mainland at low tide using a causeway at certain times of the day. Holy Island is the birthplace of Christianity bought by Saint Aiden in 635AD in Angelo-Saxon times. From here the Christian message spread around the world. Saint Aiden founded the monastery and the Anglo-Saxon Saint Cuthbert founded Lindisfarne Priory. Holy Island is still a place of pilgrimage today.
