Refuse from a baseball field is piled up for removal April 19 at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma. Around 40 Marines volunteered to clean up the area as part of a series of events celebrating Earth Day. Local youth boys' baseball teams, with their families from Ginowan City, and the city's mayor, Atsushi Sakima, volunteered alongside the Marines. Though the park is technically part of MCAS Futenma, Marine Corps Installations Pacific, both residents and Marines have access to the field and enjoy the area together.
