From a study of these tables and charts it appears that the general tend-ency of cutting grass every two weeks instead of every week is to increasethe ether extract content of the gras3. It does not matter whether the re-sults are considered from the fresh basis or the water free basist - this state-ment appears true. Chart XXIV. in which the data is reduced to a graphicrepresentation upon the water free basis, brings out the point to best advant-age. It should be noted that in the case of the check plot, a decrease inether extract is produced during the latter third of the season. In thecases of the disced plot and the disced, manured plot there are 2 or 3 in-stances where a loss is recorded. These should be regarded as exceptions, rather than the rule. From the data, it seems safe to say that the less frequent grass is cutthe greater is the tendency for the percent of ether extract to -56- \ i .Table 23 - Ether Extract Content of Pasture Grass for each i i Cutting from each Plot / / Results in percent of frnsh substance Disced and No t reatinent disced manured Plot 1 Plot 2 Plot 7 Plot 3 Plot 4 Plot 5 Plot 6 Cut Cut Cut Cut Cut Cut Cut Date weekly biweekly twice weekly biweekly weekly biweekly cut a year May 10 R 18 I! 25 June 1 ii 8 it X ? i • O 1 it 22 n 29 July 6 ii 13 ii 20 ii 27 Aug. 3 2 .05 it 10 it 17 it 24 ti 31 Gept . 8 it 14 t
