A new African plant, which appears to be a rival to the Gladiolus, resembling ^ not only in general habit, but in the brilliancy of its long spikes of broad open flowers, varying from deep rosy crimson to vivid scarlet, and measuring two inches across. It appears quite hardy, and blooms in the autumn, remaining long in flower. It is easily cultivated, and will be very valuable for the open garden or T for gi-eenhouse decoration.
