The beautiful Romanesque-style Norman church of St Mary the Virgin is located in Iffley Village, south of was built around1160 CE by the St Remy family. The Early Gothic east end was extended around 1230, when a cell was constructed on the south side for the anchoress (hermit) Annora. As expected of a building of such antiquity, it is Grade I listed.
