A ship's chronometer no. 394 of the Imperial Navy, Christian Friedrich Tiede, circa 1871. Silver-plated dial with Roman numerals for the hours, Arab numerals for the small second and up/down. Manufacturer's name " Berlin" and number "394". Gold and blued hands. Presumably English fusee movement of around 1850 with blued screws and spring detent escapement. Brass housing. Gimbal-mounted in a threepart mahogany box with glazed bezel and brass mountings. Obverse an engraved medallion "M No 394" underneath the Imperial crown. 18 x x cm. Recondition,
