The Angel Posting House and Livery hotel is a luxury town house in the High Street of Guildford, and is one of England´s oldest and most charming inns built on the site of Whitefriars Monastry . The oldest part of the hotel is the stone vaulted undercroft that dates back to the 1300s the earliest documentary evidence for the building is in a deed from Pancras Chamberlyn of 1527 when Sir Christopher More bought the building called the Angel for £ The Angel stands on the cobbled and now fashionable High Street of Guildford. Famous guests include Lord Nelson, Charles Dickens, Lord Byron and Jane Austen.
