Niels, a Patriarch in the Oneida Stake of Zion,was born Jan. 17, 1834, at Hosterkjob,Birkerod parish, Frederiksborg amt,Denmark. He was the youngest of allhis fathers children, 21 in number, andthe only one who has accepted the gos-pel. He was baptized in April, 1853,and late in th&t year he started forZion, arriving in Salt Lake City in Oc-tober, 1854. He settled in PleasantGrove, Utah county. In 1856 he wasordained a Teacher, and later an was ordained a Seventy May 25,1857. and became a member of the 52ndquorum. He removed to Salt Lake. City and worked at Pres. BrighamYoungs saw mill in City creek 24. 1863, he married Johanna , and in the summer of 1864 hemoved to Oxford, Idaho, where he re-mained till 1866, when he located atWeston, Idaho, where he at present re-sides. In the spring of 1867 he waschosen by Bishop Peter Maughan toact as counselor to John Maughan, act-ing Bishop of Weston. When theWards and Stakes were reorganized hewas chosen as first counselor to BishopA. A. Allen of Weston Ward and wason that occasion ordained a HighPriest. At the organization of the Oneida Stake in June, 1884, he wascalled to be a member of the HighCouncil in that Stake, a position whichhe still occupies. April 5, 1895, he leftSalt Lake City for a mission to Scandi-navia, where he labored till June, 1887,when he was honorably released andreturned home. I
